1. Processing of visa applications
Due to the development of the pandemic in Nigeria, visa applications can currently only be accepted in urgent exceptional cases. As soon as this situation changes, an announcement will be made on the website of the Consulate General in Lagos.
2. Simplified procedure for new visas
I. National visa (for long stays; D visa)
Issue of national visas under a simplified procedure is currently not possible.
II. Schengen visa (for short stays of up to 90 days; C visa)
It is not possible at present to issue a new Schengen visa (stays of up to 90 days within a period of 180 days) under the simplified procedure.
Laws on entry requirements
Kindly note that the visa application form as well as the appointment booking are free of cost. The only fee incurred (related to the visa procedure) are the visa fees. We kindly ask you to rely solely on information from the German missions in Nigeria with regard to your visa application. Please don’t use intermediary service providers. Since the German missions don’t cooperate with any of them, there is no need.
Due to the high demand for appointments for national visa with your todays registration you have to wait for an appointment to apply for your visa several months.

Family Reunion Visa (NO person eligible for subsidiary protection in Germany!) 10 months
Work permit, AuPair, FSJ, BFD, other (NO Family Reunion / NO Students) 18 months
