General Information

The visa entitles you to enter and taking up an employment in Germany. After you have arrived in Germany, if all requirements are met, you will be issued a residence permit corresponding to your purpose of stay. It is not possible to apply for the residence permit directly in Germany.

Apply online

Apply for selected visas online. You will receive feedback as to whether your documents are complete. Your appointment at the German Consulate Lagos will then be quick and efficient: you present the requested original documents, provide your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) and pay the fee.

You can apply for the following visas online:

• Opportunity Card
• Blue Card (EU)

Apply in paper form

All other categories must apply in paper form.

Due to the high demand for appointments in the area of employment visa there are waiting times of approximately over one year.

Please register on the online appointment system on the Consulat's website or make an appointment individually at the Embassy in Abuja if the Embassy is the competent misson for your case.

The processing time is several weeks.

Application in paper form

Please bring the completed and signed application form and the declaration to your appointment at the visa office. Without a completed form, you will be denied entry to the visa office.

All required documents must be submitted in full at the personal interview. Documents sent in advance cannot be considered due to capacity constraints. It is not possible to process incomplete applications. No positive decision can be made if incomplete applications are submitted.
