Visa for Re-entry

Here you will find information about the re-entry visa if you already have a legal residence in Germany and are denied entry due to a lost or expired residence permit.
Please contact the competent mission via e-mail with the subject Re-Entry-Visa attaching your lost residence permit and the proof of your departure in Germany. We will arrange an short notice appointment for you.
All required documents need to be submitted at the personal interview in 1 copy in DIN A4 format including the application form.
Please do not staple the photocopies.
The following documents have to be submitted as indicated below:
completely filled out form in English or German, signed by the applicant himself
as well as a signed declaration
75 Euro
Payable in cash in NGN at the current exchange rate of the Consulate or via POS.
Applications of persons who are married to a German or EU-citizen are free of charge.
- not older than 6 month
- uniform white background
- size: 3.5x4,5 cm
- not glued or stapled to the application form
- original passport + copy of data page
- issued in the last 10 years
- valid for at least 6 more months and at least two free pages
(expired) residence permit card
in case your passport/residence permit got stolen or lost:
Police report
any other proof you can provide
e.g.
- old passport with the residence permit for Germany or a copy
- “Fiktionsbescheinigung”
- German registration certificate
- German health insurance card
- German salary slips
- German student ID card
e.g.
- stamps in the passport
- Boarding pass
Travel health insurance, valid min. 1 month
The consulate must involve the competent authority in Germany in the visa procedure.
