Which visa do I need?
Citizens of Nigeria require a visa to travel to Germany.
The type of visa depends on the duration of your planned stay. Do you only want to go for a short time, e.g., as a tourist? Or are you planning a longer stay, e.g. for studies?

Important information I need to know before the visa application
Forged documents
- Please only submit documents issued by officials at the competent authorities or courts.
- If you have lost your documents, please contact the relevant authorities and inform us during the interview process that these documents have been reissued.

The Consulate does not cooperate with agencies or third parties offering appointment bookings for a fee.

What can I do after my visa was denied?
Since 1st July 2025, it is no longer possible to appeal against visa application rejections to the diplomatic mission abroad. Appeals sent to the diplomatic mission abroad have no legal effect and will no longer be processed.
Since 1st July 2025, you have the following options after a visa application has been rejected:
- You can submit a new visa application at any time, which is usually subject to a fee.
In this visa application, you must again submit all relevant documents and evidence. This visa application will also be examined neutrally on the basis of the applicable legal situation. - You can lodge an appeal against the rejection notice with the Berlin Administrative Court, subject to a fee.
The rejection notice contains binding information on legal remedies with details of the legal remedy (appeal), the competent authority (Verwaltungsgericht Berlin) and the deadline (1 month from notification of the decision).
