Article

The visa for marriage can only be issued if there are no legal and factual obstacles to the marriage and it is imminent, i.e. that the competent registry office has all the documents required for exemption from providing the certificate of marriageability. This usually involves a procedure to verify the Nigerian documents presented.

Therefore, the Consulate recommends contacting the relevant registry office in Germany well in advance of the visa application to inquire about the documents required for the marriage and to take the necessary steps. A confirmation from the registry office that the required document verification has already been finished must be presented at the interview.

All documents that have been presented at the registry office must also be presented at least in copy when submitting the application.
