A re-entry visa can only be issued to applicants who have a valid residential status in Germany.

What documents do I need?

Instruction:

The following documents have to be submitted as indicated below:
• Sort your application according to this list.
• The required documents must be submitted in full at the personal interview. Documents sent in advance cannot be considered.
• Do not staple any of the documents.
• Copies need to be in DIN A4 format and black/white. Copies in color will not be accepted.
Incomplete and unsorted applications will not be accepted.


Please Note: The Consulate General reserves the right to request further documents.
All information is without guarantee for correctness and completeness. They are based on the information available to the consulate at the time of creation.

Re-Entry (Please bring with you to your interview)

Sorting list with explanation:

  • completely fill out form in English or German
  • signed by applicant (or leageal guardian) with place and date

For more information on how to fill in the Videx form, click here.

  • signed declaration by applicant (or legeal guardian) with place and date

  • signed Regulations by applicant (or legeal guardian) with place and date

  • original passport + copy of data page
  • issued in the last 10 years
  • valid for at least 6 more months
  • at least two free pages

  • (expired) residence permit card

If your passport/residence permit was stolen or lost:

  • Police report

Any other available proof, e.g.:

  • Old passport with German residence permit (or copy)
  • “Fiktionsbescheinigung” (fictitious certificate)
  • German registration certificate
  • German health insurance card
  • German salary slips
  • German student ID card

e.g.

  • Passport stamps
  • Boarding passes

  • Letter from the German health insurance company confirming that insurance coverage is currently in effect.
  • Or a travel insurance valide for at least 1 month.

  • not older than 6 months
  • uniform white background
  • size: 3,5x4,5 cm
  • not glued or stapled to the application form

    Sample Photos

• a self-addressed prepaid courier envelope from any major courier service, addressed to yourself (please ensure that the address is legible to facilitate delivery).

2. A signed consent form from the parent who is not attending the visa interview

  • Letter of consent template (for more information:Letter of consent)
  • If applicable: parents’ divorce decree
  • If applicable: parents’ death certificates

For students / vocational training / voluntary service

The declaration must allow the minor to travel to Germany to study / work and to withdraw money from the blocked account set up in Germany.
