Loss of Money or Passport

If your passport, documents, cash, or other valuables are stolen, contact the nearest police station immediately, report the theft, and ask for a copy of the loss report. You can find more information about lost passports here.

Insurance companies generally require you to submit the police loss report if you wish to claim compensation. The same applies when applying for a replacement passport or ID card.

Loss of a Driver’s License

Have you lost your German driver’s license in Nigeria, or was it stolen? If so, you should first file a report immediately at the nearest Nigerian police station.

German driver’s licenses are issued only by German authorities and must also be applied for in Germany. Please contact the driver’s license office in your last place of residence in Germany directly. German diplomatic missions abroad cannot issue driver’s licenses or other replacements.
